TARA REID BIOGRAPHY: CAREER

Reid was first introduced to acting as a young girl at the age of six when she became a regular on a game show titled Child’s Play.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Reid spoke about how she first got into acting.

“How I started acting is funny,” Reid reflected. “I’m from New Jersey and so we were in the mall, me, my mother and my brother. I was about, I guess, six years old. And we were in the food court and me and my brother were kind of teasing each other, and I got on the table and was like, ‘nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.’ And this lady saw me. She was visiting her daughter in New Jersey, and she turned out to be a child’s manager. So, she went up to my mom and she’s like, ‘your daughter, she is a piece of work.’ She’s like, ‘She has to be an actress.’ My mom’s like I don’t know about that. ‘Trust me’ (she said). There’s this movie and it was based on a Stephen King book. So, I went in for the audition and I got it and it kind of went from there.”

Reid then went on to reveal how she almost passed on the popular film Sharknado.

“I thought ,‘are you kidding me?’ Reid confessed. “Sharknado? Like tornadoes and sharks in the sky? Like this is the worst script I’ve ever read, you know? But I kept laughing out loud because it was just so bad. And then that night I went out to dinner with my friends and I was telling them about it. They were like, ‘Are you kidding me? You have to do this movie!’ And I was like, ‘All right.’ So, I called my agent and I said, ‘All right, I’ll do the movie.’ But I thought no one would see it like I’d take the money and run on this kind of thing, but that’s exactly what not happened. It was funny. We were in Mexico on vacation, and we were there and I get this phone call, and my phone keeps going like, ‘Boom! Boom! Boom!’” Reid described. “I’m like ‘What is going on?’ Like I thought something happened, and then I answered the phone and it’s my agent going ‘You won’t believe what’s happening! American Pie is trending No. 1, they’re getting a million hits per minute!’  And I was like, you got to be joking me, because like we did no press on it, no anything on it. And then I get on the plane to go home, and the stewardess says to me, ‘Oh my God!’ He was like, ‘I love your movie,’ and I thought, of course he’s talking about American Pie, and then he goes, ‘Sharknado‘s the best!’ And then I was like, ‘Ok this is really weird, like, am I getting punked?’ Like it was crazy.”

When asked about her favorite scene in the comedy film American Pie, this is what Reid had to say:

“It was so much fun because everyone was kind of in the beginning of their careers, and, I mean, I guess the funniest moment for us,” Reid acknowledged, “was some of the scenes that we weren’t shooting, when the cast was behind the camera, like with the directors watching in the director’s chair. And I got to have to say it was definitely the pie scene with Jason Biggs,” Reid laughed. “We were dying. We were like holding our mouths like not to cry, and laughing through the tape.”

When asked how many takes it took to successfully capture that one scene, Reid admitted they had to go through “a lot of pies.”
