Former Staff Of Meghan Markle’s Spotify Podcast Gave Her Secret Nickname For When She Was ‘On The Warpath’
Former staff members working with Meghan Markle on her Stopify podcast revealed new details of their unpleasant experience working for the Duchess of Sussex.
In an interview with Fox News, U.K. royal correspondent Neil Sean said that the disgruntled employees used the name of Joan Crawford’s character Eva Phillips in the 1955 movie Queen Bee for Markle. Co-workers called Markel “Eva” as “a warning signal to let people know that she was either arriving or on the warpath.”
In the film, Eva is a Southern socialite who ruthlessly ruins the lives of everyone around her.
“This wasn’t an endearing pet nickname,” Sean told Page Six. “The nickname came from the 1955 camp classic Queen Bee starring the ultimate diva herself, Crawford. This is because, like Joan’s character, she stung her victims to pieces. This is precisely how staff felt about working alongside [Markle].”
Staffers working with Markle found her difficult to work with due to her “mood swings,” including being “tough and bossy.”
“Staffers decided to give her the character’s nickname; she was high camp without realizing it,” Sean said, including an allegation that Markle would only speak to a specific top-ranking employee at Spotify.
“When that person is not around, they have to be reminded that they are dealing with somebody who is a duchess and, more importantly, a member of the British royal family. This worked at the beginning, as Meghan’s presence beguiled people,” Neil added. “But it quickly wore off when she became demanding, clearly forgetting her struggling actress days.”
Sean reported that Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, received the nickname “Tim Nice But Dim,” referring to the British comedy program “Tim Nice but Dim’s Guide to Being a Bloody Nice Bloke.”
Despite the rumors of being a bullying boss, Markle signed on to create another podcast with Lemonade Media last February.
