Ali Vincent Bio: In Her Own Words – Video Exclusive, News, Photos, Age
Ali Vincent Biography
Ali Vincent was born February 24, 1975, to Bette-Sue Burklund and John Vincent in Mesa, Arizona. Her parents married when Burkland became pregnant with Vincent’s older sister Amber and divorced by the time Ali was 2 years old, she wrote in her book Believe It, Be It. She described her father as rarely being around, and her mother as being a drinker and smoker who tried every diet in the book to lose weight. After Vincent’s father left, remarried and started a new family, her mother became jealous. Burkland struggled with the idea of sharing her daughters with her husband’s new family, so Vincent had a hard time forming a bond with them.
Vincent and her sister were mostly raised by their grandparents and didn’t learn much about personal responsibility, whether that meant doing chores or saving money.
Vincent is a formerly nationally-ranked synchronized swimmer. In high school, she was slim, athletic and popular and a “trophy girlfriend.” She defied her Mormon upbringing by running with a bad crowd in high school and valuing her body less. She started seriously gaining weight in her late teens, a struggle most women in her family dealt with.
Ali Vincent ‘Biggest Loser’
Vincent, weighing in at an all-time high of 234 pounds, competed in the ‘couples’ themed fifth season of the weight-loss reality show The Biggest Loser with her mother. Vincent and Burkland became Team Pink and trained with Bob Harper.
Vincent and Burkland were eliminated in the fourth week. In week 11 all the eliminated contestants were invited back to the ranch for the chance to re-enter the competition. Vincent re-joined the game and began working with Jillian Michaels. When Michaels pressured Vincent to figure out why she had put on the excess weight, one of her main reasons was that she felt alone, so being overweight allowed her to justify why she was alone.
Vincent not only made it to the finale but won the entire season after losing a total of 112 pounds, 47.86% of her starting weight. Just like controversial season 15 winner Rachel Frederickson, Vincent says people thought she was too skinny at the finale. “I had to definitely lose more than I would normally have lost if I wasn’t in a competition,” Vincent told Uinterview exclusively. “I think that she is too skinny; I think she knows that she is too skinny. I think she wanted to win and she did and that’s a different kind of strength. She’s an athlete.”
Ali Vincent After ‘Biggest Loser,’ ‘Live Big with Ali Vincent’
Following her Biggest Loser win, Vincent appeared on many talk shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Today Show. She served as a spokesperson for 24 Hour Fitness and NEXT Whey protein. Vincent has completed an Ironman Triathlon, too.
Vincent wrote the book Believe It, Be It: How Being the Biggest Loser Won Me Back My Life, which is also her personal mantra. The book documents her personal struggles and transformation. The book was released in 2009.
In 2010 Vincent began her own health-oriented show, Live Big With Ali Vincent, which ran for four seasons. On the show, she gave tips and tricks for losing weight through healthy eating and exercise. Vincent shared healthy recipes and gave people shopping advice.
Ali Vincent Dating History, Personal Life
In 2015, Vincent married longtime girlfriend Jennifer Krusing. The couple share three children.
Vincent’s weight has fluctuated since leaving the Biggest Loser ranch in 2008, but she continues to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
