Kamala Harris & Doug Emhoff’s Appearance At Met Gala Leads To Speculation Over Who Paid For $150K Tickets
After former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, attended this year’s Met Gala, online speculation over who paid for the $150,000 tickets has run wild.
On Monday night, Harris and Emhoff appeared at the Met Gala in New York City. She wore a custom black-and-white gown by Off-White. This night marks her first appearance at the Met Gala.
Although the couple skipped the red carpet, the former vice president appeared in photos before the event wearing a silk silhouette with an asymmetrical cape sleeve and a long scarf.
Harris was invited by Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour, a spokesperson for Harris said.
However, it was not revealed who paid for the tickets, which run $75,000 per person to the annual event, considered the most exclusive party of the year.
Users immediately spread rumors about the mystery on the social media platform X.
“With a $20 million debt from her campaign, she can afford a $75,000 ticket for the Met Gala,” one user wrote on the platform. “Well, we guess this just proves how budget-minded DemUNIST really are.”
“While regular folks are scraping by, she’s flaunting a dress that probably cost $75,000,” another user said. “Come on, read the room!”
“Who paid for Kamala’s Met Gala $75,000 ticket,” another wrote. “I thought she grew up in a middle-class household. So out of touch.”
Harris, who is mulling a bid for California governor next year, is easing her way back into the limelight. On Feb. 15, Harris and Emhoff went backstage to meet with the cast and crew of A Wonderful World, a Broadway musical about jazz legend Louis Armstrong.
Footage released on the show’s official Instagram page showed Harris shaking hands and posing for pictures at Studio 54 after the performance.
During the Emerge 20th Anniversary Gala in San Francisco on April 30, the former vice president slammed the Trump administration, giving her first major speech since losing.
