Who Is Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney's New Girlfriend?
George Clooney appears to have picked up a new girlfriend, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin.
Alamuddin, 36, and Clooney, 52, were photographed together in New York City Tuesday, March 18, as they were leaving the Carlyle Hotel together. Before that, the two were spotted vacationing in the Seychelles and in Tanzania.
Who Is Amal Alamuddin?
Alamuddin is not Clooney’s usual female companion – his two previous girlfriends, Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler were both actresses. Alamuddin is a lawyer, specializing in human rights, international law, extradition and criminal law. A graduate of St. Hugh’s College of Oxford University and of New York University (NYU) School of Law, she is also trilingual: fluent in English, French and Arabic.
Throughout her impressive career, she has advised multiple UN panels, including a UN commission to investigate former Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri, and is a member of the expert panel for the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative. Currently, she is working for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, representing him in his extradition case with Sweden, where he is wanted on a rape charge. In her free time, Alamuddin also writes and speaks at conferences and seminars across the globe.
The two have reportedly been seeing each other seriously for about a month, ever since Clooney attended a White House screening of his latest directorial effort, The Monuments Men, in February with Almuddin on his arm.
