Rapper Suge Knight and comedian Katt Williams were arrested and charged yesterday evening after a member of the paparazzi reported that the pair stole his camera. The L.A. District Attorney’s office is reporting that along with Knight’s prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon he could potentially face up to thirty years in prison if convicted of robbery.

Katt Williams, a former pimp turned comedian and movie star, is being arraigned in a separate assault case; potentially he could face up to seven years in prison. Williams spoke with TMZ after being released on bail and paints a very different picture of the incident, claiming that he and Knight were defending a child from the unidentified photographer who was acting “unethically.”

This has been a difficult year for both Knight and Williams. Earlier this year, just prior to the MTV VMA awards, a fight and ensuing shootout had taken place at a nightclub. Though neither Knight nor Williams were presumed to be the intended targets, Knight was shot and wounded. The camera incident happened a week later.
