Welsh composer Sir Karl Jenkins has spoken out after a photo of him at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony went viral on social media. In what is perhaps one of the most bizarre coronation-related conspiracy theories of all time, a number of royal family followers have suggested that the 79-year-old musician was actually Meghan Markle wearing a fake mustache and shaggy wig as she attended the ceremony in incognito mode.

Jenkins took to social media to comment on the conspiracy. “My name is Sir Karl Jenkins,” he wrote. “I understand there has been a lot of interest in me since I appeared at the coronation of King Charles III. I was there because I’d written some music for the service, really.”

“I was quite surprised that some people thought I was Meghan Markle in disguise,” Jenkins explained in the video shared to his TikTok. He then went on to share other theories about his attendance at the coronation, and unable to contain his laughter, Jenkins shared a Twitter post that read “I don’t know much about the #coronation but I do know this is obviously a disguise and 100% they’re going to try and steal the crown jewels.”

“I look this way all the time,” he said responding to theories that his face was disguised. “I’ve had the mustache since I was 18 years old. It was very trendy then.”

“So that’s me. Nothing sinister about it or surprising at all,” he said concluding the video as he set the record straight.
