Nick Offerman, best known for playing Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation, starred in a fake Home Depot ad on John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight.

Nick Offerman's Home Depot Ad

On Sunday's Last Week Tonight, Oliver targeted Lowe's pre-Christmas shopping announcement that they are currently testing out robotic shopping assistants in some of their stores that would help customers locate products. One lucky shopper notes in the real-life Lowe's spot, “I actually really liked it, and we could be considered friends,” which really disturbed Oliver – especially considering the marriage-ending capabilities of a trip to a home supplies store.

"If you want to test your marriage, go buy home supplies together," said Oliver, quipping, "Robots don’t realize that home improvement stores are a lethal combination of everything that can ruin a relationship – spending money, reconciling tastes, long-term planning and florescent lighting."

Driving home his point, Oliver enlisted Offerman to play a Home Depot salesperson to H. Jon Benjamin and Sarah Baker's married couple bickering through the aisles. Everytime their arguments lead in a dangerous terrority – mothers-in-law and porn habits – Offerman steps in to get them back on track.

“They started bickering, but I had a feeling it wasn’t about the copper sink," said Offerman in his signature deadpan style. "It’s never about the copper sink.”
