Mickey Rourke Forced To Leave ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ Due To Continued ‘Threatening’ & ‘Offensive’ Language
Actor Mickey Rourke was asked to leave the house of Celebrity Big Brother U.K. after repeated threatening and inappropriate behavior towards the other houseguests.
A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother told Variety, “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behavior.”
After he asked about her sexual orientation, Siwa told Rourke, “Girls. My partner is non-binary,” to which Rourke replied, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” Siwa responded, “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”
Later, Rourke said he was going to “vote out the lesbian real quick.” Upon hearing the remark, Siwa responded, “That’s homophobia if that was your reasoning.”
Rourke also reportedly said, “I need a f–,” in reference to the house’s smoking area, but followed the remark by gesturing to Siwa and saying, “I’m not talking about you.”
Rourke was reprimanded in a confessional and told that if his inappropriate treatment of the other celebrities continued, he would be asked to leave the house. He issued the apology in response, “I don’t have dishonorable intentions. I’m just talking smack, you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”
Following Rourke’s apology, a spokesperson for ITV stated, “All housemates receive respect and inclusion training and an extensive briefing from the Big Brother senior year to prepare them for living in the house and set Big Brother’s expectation for appropriate behavior and language. Housemates are monitored 24 hours a day and instances of inappropriate behavior are dealt with appropriately and timely.”
However, Rourke’s offensive comments did not stop after his apology to Siwa and his disqualification from the show occurred after he and his housemate Chris Hughes became invested in a disagreement during a task. Although no physical discourse took place, Rourke’s language was reportedly “threatening and aggressive” when several of the castmates agreed, “There’s a rat among us,” and Hughes looked at Rourke, to which Rourke responded, “Don’t eyeball me. Don’t f—ing eyeball me, c—. “
