Mickey Rourke has received a formal warning from producers of the U.K. edition of Celebrity Big Brother after making homophobic comments directed at fellow housemate JoJo Siwa. The incident occurred during a conversation in which Siwa, who identifies as gay and is in a relationship with a non-binary partner, was subjected to inappropriate remarks from Rourke.

Before starting on the show, Rourke made headlines sporting an odd new wig while out with friends in London.

In a subsequent discussion with another contestant, Rourke expressed intentions to “vote the lesbian out real quick,” a statement Siwa overheard and identified as homophobic. The situation escalated when Rourke used a term commonly understood as a homophobic slur, later claiming he was referring to a cigarette.

Following these events, Rourke was summoned to the show’s diary room, where producers issued a formal warning, deeming his language offensive and unacceptable. Rourke apologized, attributing his comments to a short temper and asserting that he meant no harm. Siwa accepted the apology and acknowledged the gesture.

The controversy has sparked discussions among viewers and fans of the show, with many expressing concern over Rourke’s behavior and its impact on the house dynamics. The incident highlights ongoing challenges related to respectful communication and inclusivity in reality television settings.
