Halle Berry and Goran Visnjic have been filming their upcoming TV show, Extant, in downtown Los Angeles with child star Pierce Gagnon.

In the science-fiction drama, produced by Stephen Spielberg, Visnjic plays Berry’s husband, while Gagnon is playing their son. In the series, Berry’s character is an astronaut, who’s recently returned to Earth after spending a year in space on a solo mission. Extant will follow her as she struggles to acclimate herself back to life at home with her family.

Visnjic’s character, in addition to being Berry’s husband, works as a scientist. West Wing actor Michael O’Neill has been cast as a former astronaut. Extant also stars Camryn Manheim, Sergio Harford, Maury Sterling, Hiroyuki Sanada and Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer.

While Berry has been filming the much-anticipated sci-fi series, reports about her personal life have alleged she’s headed towards a split from her husband, Olivier Martinez. The pair, who married last summer and welcomed their first child together in October, have reportedly been drifting apart due to their demanding work schedules. Despite the persistant rumors, both Berry and Martinez have continued to sport their wedding bands.

Extant will premiere on CBS Wednesday, July 9 at 9/8c.
