Friday marked the start of Coachella’s first weekend. The music festival kicked off with performances from notable musicians such as Lana Del Rey and Sabrina Carpenter on its first day.

Singer Grimes performed on Saturday, and thousands of fans watched. During her set, Grimes began to experience technical issues. On stage, Grimes tried to explain to fans that the problems stemmed from the programming of her tracks. But with thousands of faces watching, it was clear that the singer was growing more frustrated by the minute, leading to the singer screaming into the microphone.

On the morning after her performance, Grimes issued an apology to X, which was owned by ex-partner Elon Musk

“I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight,” the post read. “I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of the show myself.”

Grimes explained that she usually handles the tracks and mixing herself. However, this was one of the first times she allowed someone else to do it, but said she “had a bad feeling beforehand.”

“I will personally organize all the files next. I will not let such a thing happen again,” Grimes wrote. “But, yeh—next week will be flawless, everything will run thru my hands.”

Grimes signed off the post with, “Plz forgive me! Love, always,” followed by a heart emoji.

The singer’s post was met with support, although some felt Grimes was unfairly blaming others for the issues on stage.

“Honestly, your set was still incredible even with the issues, and the new music sounds insane. I can’t image how stressful that must have been for you . . .” one user wrote.

Another said, “No need to throw people under the bus regardless of who did what, you are ultimately responsible, period.”

Grimes is slated to return for another performance during Coachella’s second weekend, April 19-21.

Grimes and Musk separated in 2021 after having two children together.
