After returning from the Blue Origin flight, popstar Katy Perry describes herself as “a human piñata” after being mocked online with endless memes.

Perry has recently been criticized for her part in Jeff Bezos’s all-female Blue Origin space flight, during which she sang Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and held up a setlist for her new tour to an in-flight camera. She and the rest of the crew were accused of being “tone deaf” for joining an expensive trip during economic struggle.

Her latest tour has also become the subject of mockery, with Perry appearing to put on a series of strange space-themed performances. The online backlash appears to have been enough for Perry to call out her critics emotionally.

Perry posted a lengthy message after dedicated Brazilian fans paid for a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square for 24 hours to declare their support. The billboard read, “Congratulations on the opening week of your tour. We are so proud of you and your journey. We love you to the moon and back!”

In response, Perry reacted to the gesture and criticized the internet as a “dumping ground for [the] unhinged and unhealed.”

“I’m grateful for you guys; we’re on this beautiful and wild journey together,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “I can remain true to myself, my heart open and honest, especially because of our bond.”

“Please know that I am OK,” she added. I have done a lot of work on knowing who I am, what is real, and what is important to me.”

After returning to Earth following the 11-minute flight, Perry immediately dropped to her knees and proceeded to kiss the dirt. While the gesture may have been viewed as joyful, the public has slammed it as the “ultimate” insult to the NASA astronauts stranded in space for more than nine months.
