Hilaria Baldwin Says Husband Alec Baldwin Was ‘On The Phone’ While She Was Giving Birth, Threatened To Divorce Him

Hilaria Baldwin threatened a divorce during a tumultuous period in her marriage.

In her upcoming memoir, Manual Not Included, Hilaria details a time when her relationship with husband, actor Alec Baldwin, was “rocky” and they almost ended it.

The fractures in their marriage occurred before and after their second child, Rafael, arrived in June 2015.

“I was so focused on how I thought things should be, and Alec was so set in his ways. Neither one of us would budge.”

At the beginning of their marriage, Hilaria actually admitted she didn’t understand what a prenup was.

Many of their issues revolved around Alec’s demanding work schedule and their differing views on work-life balance. Hilaria was home alone with their daughter, Carmen, and their dogs while Alec was traveling for long periods for work. She, desiring more family time, found it challenging when Alec’s work took precedence, even during the birth of their son.

While she was actively in labor, Alec was still answering phone calls and replying to emails.

“It really pissed me off, and I didn’t hesitate to tell him so,” Hilaria explained. She also noted that the actor’s immediate return to work made her feel “disrespected.”

In her book, Hilaria wrote that her frustration with him was so high that she even took her wedding rings off to threaten that she was “potentially ready to walk.”

Despite their growing problems, Hilaria wrote that she decided to fight for the marriage and work out their differences.

The couple renewed their vows for their fifth wedding anniversary in 2017 and welcomed five more children.

Their new reality TV series, The Baldwins, premiered in February on TLC and documents the famous family’s ups and downs. During a red carpet event for the show, Hilaria snapped at Alec for bothering her, telling him, “You’re annoying me!”
