Fans Express Alarm At Donatella Versace’s Dramatic ‘New Face,’ Sparking Plastic Surgery Rumors

Fans expressed alarm at Donatella Versace’s sudden change in appearance. The Italian fashion designer caught the public’s attention at Sunday night’s Devil Wears Prada musical premiere in London.

Versace has sparked rumors of plastic surgery in the past as she has regularly debuted impressive makeovers.

On Sunday, Versace, 69, shared a carousel of photos from the event on Instagram, which features her posing in a sparkling gold dress alongside famous friends such as Anna Wintour and Elton John. 

Although some people credited Versace’s dramatic change to plastic surgery, others suggested that she had merely edited the photos before posting.

One person commented, “False alarm, everyone. Donatella Versace’s face is still the same; someone just had free time and Photoshop.”

Another wrote, “Someone set Donatella up with that edit omg… but anyways, however, she looks, she’s still gorgeous because she’s a kind and loving woman.” 

Regardless of whether or not plastic surgery was involved, Versace has long made it known that she has no objections to making various alterations to one’s body in the name of style.

In a 2010 interview with The Independent, Versace controversially declared that she didn’t believe in a “natural” look for women. “I don’t even know what my natural color is. Natural? What is natural? What is that?” she declared. “I do not believe in totally natural for women. For me, natural has something to do with vegetables.”

The Devil Wears Prada musical, with songs written by John, premiered at the Dominion Theatre in London as part of a charity night gala supporting the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Based on the book of the same name, written by Lauren Weisberger in testament to her time as an assistant to Wintour, the book was adapted into a 2006 film starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.

The musical stars Vanessa Williams as the Wintour-inspired Miranda Priestley.
