The 2018 Emmy Award nominations were announced on Thursday, and Game of Thrones led all shows with 22 nods, including the awards’ technical categories.

Another HBO drama, Westworld, also received 22 nominations for its second season.

Netflix series also earned much recognition this year, and the streaming service even surpassed HBO in nominations, thus snapping the latter network’s 17-year streak of dominating in nods at the Emmys.

Game of Thrones — whose final season is set to air in 2019 — did not qualify for last year’s Emmys, as season seven started in July, around the time nominations are typically unveiled.

Among the other shows that earned nominations in the Best Drama series category this year are Netflix’s 1980s sci-fi fan favorite Stranger Things and NBC’s tear-jerker This Is Us, as well as the breakout Hulu hit The Handmaid’s Tale.

Atlanta, Barry, Blackish and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were all recognized in the Best Comedy series group. Veep, which has dominated at the Emmys in recent years, is not included in the category this year because its final season is delayed while its lead actress Julia Louis-Dreyfuss undergoes breast cancer treatment.

Michael Che and Colin Jost, who are co-anchors on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update,” will co-host this year’s Emmys. The ceremony will air Monday, September 17 on NBC.
