This year, Amy Schumer made her first appearance at a Met Gala — the premier annual fashion event held in New York City – and it will likely be her last.

Amy Schumer On Met Gala

Schumer’s career success over the last couple of years earned her a coveted Met Gala invitation. Though Schumer opted to accept the invite, she quickly regretted it, acknowledging that being decked out in an Alexander Wang creation and rubbing elbows with the most fashionable names in Hollywood wasn’t her scene.

“It’s people doing an impression of having a conversation … I don’t like the farce,” Schumer told Howard Stern during a recent appearance on his Sirius XM program. “We’re dressed up like a bunch of f–king a–holes.”

Even meeting Beyonce, one of the mainstays at the Met Gala, didn’t sway Schumer’s opinion of the event. “I got to meet Beyoncé and she was like, ‘Is this your first Met Gala?’” the comedian recalled. “And I was like, ‘It’s my last.’ I don’t like it. I have no interest in fashion. … I don’t care.”

Schumer has discussed her genuine disinterest in fashion and in the world that orbits around it in the past. Though she, like her peers, gets decked out for red carpets and magazine shoots, in her daily life, Schumer just doesn’t care about fashion.

“I don’t think it’s stupid; there’s no moral reasoning,” she told Vogue earlier this summer. “It’s just not my thing. I just have this sense of entitlement that I should be able to feel comfortable at all times, like I could go to bed at any moment in what I’m wearing.”
