Meghan Trainor Apologizes For Insulting Teachers During Podcast Episode

Teachers have taken to social media to express their disappointment after Meghan Trainor dissed teachers on a recent episode of her podcast Workin’ On It with Meghan Trainor & Ryan Trainor.

The 29-year-old singer received backlash after she was heard saying “f— teachers” on an episode of her podcast. Trainor made the comment during a discussion with their guest star, Trisha Paytas, about why she is home-schooling her children.

Many teachers took to the comments section of the video to express how Trainor had made them feel. One YouTube user felt Trainor had overlooked the hard work teachers put in, writing, “As a former teacher, I’m absolutely floored that Meghan would say ‘f teachers.’ I worked 12 hour days and weekends, spent money out of my own pocket, sacrificed my mental and physical health to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for my students.”

In a similar vein, another user wrote: “As a future teacher and having worked with children for years it’s really upsetting for you to diminish teachers when they have really hard jobs, don’t get paid enough, and would take a bullet for your kid any day. You are also extremely privileged to keep your kids at home. I will go into a school every day to make a very small living ready to protect and teach every child and I still can’t get any respect. I’m extremely disappointed.”

After receiving thousands of negative comments and reactions on various social media platforms, the “All About That Bass” singer took to social media on Sunday to post an apology video, saying that “Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said F teachers on my podcast and it’s not how I feel.”

“I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific and what all of us have to go through, but especially teachers, is not normal and is not OK.”

Trainor went on to explain that it was because Paytas, herself, and her actor husband, Daryl Sabara, had bad experiences with teachers that she “got angry” in the moment, which led to her comment but that she was talking about very “specific” teachers. Trainor then went on to praise teachers, saying that she loves them and called them “the most unappreciated.”

“I don’t want to make excuses; I am just so sorry. I’m so sorry to any teachers who I made feel bad. And I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence and I will be more careful,” Trainor said.

She concluded her video with “Love you all so much. I’m so sorry again. Thank you for helping me,” and sending a kiss to viewers.
