Brad Pitt Admits True Feelings About Decade-Long Divorce Case With Ex Angelina Jolie: ‘It Wasn’t A Big Deal’
Brad Pitt doesn’t feel relieved now that his divorce from Angelina Jolie has finally reached a settlement.
In an interview with GQ, Pitt was asked if he felt any relief about his divorce settlement, which was finalized in December after an eight-year-long legal battle over assets and custody.
The Fight Club actor responded, saying it wasn’t a big deal.
“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt said. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
The Mr. and Mrs. Smith costars met on set and began their public romance in 2014. They went on to have six children together: Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jolie filed for divorce two years later in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. The FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services then confirmed they were investigating Pitt for alleged child abuse following an incident on the family’s private jet.
The FBI later announced in a 2022 report that it had dropped its investigation into the incident and no charges would be filed against Pitt. The child services investigation did not determine abuse, and it was also closed in 2016.
Pitt said he’s now used to his personal life being aired in the media.
“It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro,” he said. “Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way.”
When asked if filming his latest movie, F1, was a place of solace from the public eye, Pitt disagreed.
“Um, I don’t see it that way,” Pitt said. “It’s been an annoyance I’ve had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do. So, it’s always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that, I don’t know. I don’t know.”
“Mostly I feel pretty…My life is fairly contained,” he continued. “It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it’s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.”
Pitt has been romantically linked to jewelry industry executive Ines De Ramon, known for being married to Paul Wesley of The Vampire Diaries from 2019 to 2022.
Brad Pitt and Ines De Ramon avoid Angelina Jolie at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.
When asked if he deliberately chose to make their first public appearance a Formula 1 race, Pitt denied it and laughed.
“No, dude, it’s not that calculated,” he said. “If you’re living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations?”
“No, life just evolves,” he continued. “Relationships evolve.”
