‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Sequel Set For Release This Summer
Tom Cruise is reprising his role in Top Gun 2, set for release this summer. Now a Top Gun instructor – Pete Mitchell aka ‘Maverick’ – is ready to take on a new mission involving new Top Gun recruits he finds himself training. The cast of recruits include Miles Teller as Lt. Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw, Glenn Powell as Hangman, Monica Barbaro as Phoenix, Lewis Pullman as Bob, Jay Ellis as Payback and Danny Ramirez as Fanboy.
The film highlights Maverick’s naval career of over 30 years of service as a fighter pilot and captain who resists promotion and is confronted with his past when he comes face to face with Lt. Bradley Bradshaw aka ‘Rooster,’ the son of Maverick’s late friend and comrade, Nick Bradshaw, aka ‘Goose.’
He must face an uncertain future, past pains and a mission ahead of him, requiring a commitment from the recruits chosen to fly that ultimately puts their very lives at risk.
Joseph Kosinski directs the film. The actors helped bring Cruise’s and Kosinski’s vision to life through the fully immersive, real-life experience of being in the skies with them. Kosinski describes flying the fighter jets as “an absolute thrill-ride” where the audience is given access to the casts’ real-life experience during filming. Viewers will be given access to the actors’ live-action point-of-view where minimal CG is involved. By having the actors fly real G-Force jets with IMAX-quality cameras installed that capture the reactions of fighter pilots in real time, viewers can experience what it is really like to be a pilot.
