Golf Influencer Paige Spiranac Denies She Goes After Professional Athletes: ‘I’m Actually Highly Introverted!’
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac shared a glimpse into her love life on her Slots & Casino show, The SPINvitational.
Between playing casino games and raising the stakes, she talked about common misconceptions people have about her and offered insight into her relationships with fellow golfers.
She revealed PGA Tour star Xander Schauffele was a fellow college alumnus.
“I did go to school at SDSU with Xander Schauffele,” she said. “And another fun fact is I had a crush on him, and he wanted nothing to do with me.”
The rejection didn’t bother her much. “He met his wife Maya at SDSU, so it was meant to be,” she said. “Didn’t work out for me in that way.”
Spiranac continued on her topic of misconceptions, insisting she’d never even dated someone famous before.
“Another misconception is that, like, I don’t know, I date all these like professional athletes,” she said. “Never actually been on a date with anyone famous. I’ve had professional athletes or famous people slide in my DMs, but I’ve never dated anyone famous.”
“And it’s funny ’cause I’ll see all these headlines, and there was one that was like I shot content with Bryson DeChambeau, and next headline was like ‘Paige dating Bryson DeChambeau!’ And Tom Brady was one of them, which was so crazy,” she continued. “It’s like any time I shoot content with a male celebrity, that’s the headline or all of the comments, which can be really difficult for my job when I work in a male-dominated industry.”
Spiranac addressed an old controversy: In 2015, she faced public scrutiny over whether she had done “favors to advance her golf career.“
“Even the very first European tour event that I played in Dubai,” she said. “This headline went viral where girls were insinuating that I did some things to get to that position, and that’s not true at all.
“I’m kind of like this weird little homeschooled kid with no experience, never. I haven’t dated that many people in my entire life. And I get it. My image online is highly sexualized, and that’s just how you would probably put two and two together.
“I’m very much the opposite of the person I put online. I always say it’s like my alter ego or this exaggerated version of myself. This person I actually want to be. Very confident and sexy.”
An example of her social media alter ego was when she offered to replace veteran golf commentator Paul Azinger on NBC Sports in 2023.
Despite her online persona, Spiranac said that it’s all an act.
“I think that’s another misconception that I’m outgoing and a party girl because of my image online, and I’m actually highly introverted,” she said. “I have severe social anxiety, and so it’s really funny that I’m doing what I’m doing now.”
