Teddi Mellencamp Shows Off Surgery Scars On Bald Head Amid Brain Cancer Battle
Appearing at the Unforgettable Evening on Monday, April 28, an event benefiting the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Teddi Mellencamp showed off her surgery scars, flaunting her status in recovering from cancer.
Mellencamp recently had surgery to remove two tumors that had spread from her melanoma diagnosis. Last month, doctors said she had a 50/50 chance of living.
Fully embracing her scars, Mellencamp chose a flashy look for the red carpet, wearing a mix of metallic makeup, silver jewelry, a sharp black pantsuit and silver high heels. She posed for photos with her head proudly shaved.
Although Mellencamp looked confident on the red carpet, she confessed to her Instagram followers a few hours before the event that she cried when she first saw her scars.
Alongside a photo of her head, she wrote, “It’s been 76 days since I went to the ER with unbearable headaches and quickly found out I had multiple stage 4 tumors the size of plums in my brain and lungs. Melanoma had metastasized there and been there for 6 months to a year, and we had no clue.”
Mellencamp went on, “Since that day, I have had multiple surgeries, had rage from the steroids, felt very sick, laughed a ton, ridden horses, loved on my kids and felt great.”
She continued, “When I first looked at this picture, at the scars on my head and my arm, I cried. Then, I felt a warmness rush through my body and felt so much peace. Peace from the incredible support system I have in my family and friends. Peace from the outpouring of love from y’all on here. Peace in knowing my story could help someday save their life.”
She added, “Sending love to anyone struggling and reminding you if something isn’t feeling right to do get checked. Advocate for yourself. We have got this.”
Mellencamp shared with followers last week in an Instagram video on April 23 that her tumors had officially shrunk or disappeared and her doctors were optimistic, “That this all will work and that I will be back to myself and feeling food…hopefully, I am done and I will be cancer-free.”
