On Monday, Donald Trump took a swing at Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, following the Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl.

The 2025 Super Bowl took place on Feb. 9 in New Orleans, marking the first time a sitting U.S. president has attended a match.

Teams that win the Super Bowl traditionally visit the White House, although interestingly, the Eagles turned down the visit when they won their first Super Bowl during Trump’s first term in 2018. Many players, including star quarterback Jalen Hurts, Brandon Graham, DeVonta Smith and more, were missing from the visit on Monday.

In a speech celebrating the Eagles’ 2025 Super Bowl victory, Trump called the match “a little surprising,” but regardless, “an incredible game.”

He said, “I was there, I watched in person…I was there along with Taylor Swift…How did that work out?”

The crowd laughed, and Trump repeated, “How did that one work out?”

Trump has previously attacked the pop star on multiple occasions, particularly following her September 2024 endorsement of Kamala Harris. “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” Trump wrote on social media at the time. He went on Fox & Friends the following day to bash Swift.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” he said. “It was just a question of time. She’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Trump was a vocal fan of Swift’s in the years before she voiced her political views.

On the night of the Super Bowl, Trump posted to Social Media, “The only one who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving.”

According to a new poll from NPR/PBS News/Marist, 45% of those surveyed gave Trump an ‘F’ for his performance as a president in his first 100 days, while 23% gave him an ‘A’. Trump’s overall approval rating presently sits at 42%, the worst approval rating for any president at the 100-day mark in the last 80 years.
