GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert Doubles Down On ‘Pimp Cane’ Remarks About Rep. Al Green That Democrats Call ‘Racist’

Rep Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) doubled down on her offensive comment about Rep Al Green (D-Texas), but House leaders don’t plan to take action against the controversial congresswoman.

Earlier last month, Green, 77, was removed from the chamber when he interrupted Donald Trump’s speech to Congress. As Trump claimed that he had been given a “mandate” by the American people to radically reimagine the federal government, Green yelled, “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid!” shaking his cane. Green was removed from the chamber amid cheers from Republicans.

Multiple Democrats stood up and protested Green’s removal.

After ethics concerns were raised, Bobert was recently forced to delete her Cameo account, where she was charging $250 for personalized videos.

The following day, Green told reporters, “I did it from my heart, and I will suffer whatever the consequences are…but truthfully, I would do it again.”

The House – including only 10 Democrats – voted two days later to censure Green.

In an interview with Real America’s Voice that week, Boebert proclaimed that for Green to “go and shake his pimp cane at President Trump was absolutely abhorrent.”

In 2022, Boebert interrupted Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address while he was speaking about servicemembers dying from exposure to toxic burn pits to yell about the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Despite her behavior drawing disapproval from both Democrats and Republicans at the time, she was not removed from the chamber, nor was she censured. Boebert also has a history of racist remarks, including calling Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) “a suicide bomber.”

Boebert was immediately condemned across the internet for her “pimp cane” statement about Green, a black congressman. She doubled down on her comment, writing on social media, “I stand by what I said!”

The following week, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pennsylvania) introduced a censure resolution against Boebert, declaring Boebert’s comments were “disparaging, derogatory and racist toward another colleague, and are a breach of proper conduct and decorum” of the chamber.
