Kendall Jenner is weathering some backlash from dancers after sharing her new ballet-themed video editorial for Vogue Spain.

Kendall Jenner’s Vogue Ballet

In the video directed by Astrid Sterner, Jenner talks about the playfulness of youth, and how she tries to recapture that despite having to grow up quickly while in the public eye. “I had to grow up pretty fast, but I love being a kid — [I love to] run around like a child, just not caring,” Jenner says in voice over as she twirls around a ballet studio in pointe shoes. “I’ve always been super adventurous, so I love doing stuff like that — I don’t know, stupid stuff. I have a really weird sense of humor, I think.”

“I like to be around people. People with good energy, that’s gonna lift mine up,” Jenner adds in the light-hearted video. “I love walking around; being able to be free. I just wanna continue doing what I’m doing. Be around my friends, and live a good life. Who doesn’t?”

Jenner promoted the video on Instagram with a series of pictures from the shoot taken by Miguel Reveriego.

Though models are often asked to take on roles in photoshoots that are a departure from themselves – much like actors – many took issue with the second youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister playing a ballerina. Those who criticized from the ad and Jenner’s participation in it believe that Vogue should have hired a dancer for the shoot.

Among the most noteworthy of Jenner and Vogue Spain‘s detractors is Dance MomsAbby Lee Miller. “I don’t make a habit of commenting on all the dancers that post pics with incorrect technique. I would never get anything else done!” Miller wrote on Instagram. “But I cannot be a fan of this shoot. There are so many amazing dancers in the world… Kendall Jenner is not one of them! Shame on Momager, Kris Jenner.
