Cameron Diaz and her boyfriend, Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, are reportedly engaged to be married.

Diaz, 42, and Madden’s engagement was confirmed by one of the rocker’s friends. “It happened a few nights ago,” the pal told People. “All of Benji’s friends are aware and happy for him.”

Rumors first picked up about the engagement last week when Diaz was spotted wearing a large ring on her left ring finger during a taping of the Graham Norton Show.  She was later spotted with the ring at New York City’s JFK airport with Madden, 35, at her side.

Apparently, before asking Diaz to marry him, Madden asked for her mother’s permission. “Her mom is a fan of him as well and gave her blessing,” the friend added to People.

Friends of the couple were slightly surprised to learn that the two had decided to take their relationship to the next level already, but everyone is apparently excited for the pair.

“Everyone thinks it’s wild, but are so happy for them,” an insider told Us Weekly of the engagement news. “Benji tends to fall in love easily, but this time it’s for real and he landed a great girl. They obviously both make each other incredibly happy, and there’s nothing better than that.”

Diaz and Madden, who’ve been dating for seven months, have yet to officially confirm the engagement.
