Antonia and Johanna Bennett, daughters of the late singer Tony Bennett, have sued their brother, Danny Bennett, accusing him of financial misconduct and exploitation of their father’s estate. The lawsuit, filed in New York City, alleges that Danny abused his roles as Tony’s manager, power of attorney holder and head of the family trust for personal financial gain, particularly during Tony’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

The singer died in July 2023 at 96 years old.

The sisters claim that Danny engaged in unauthorized transactions, including selling Tony’s music catalog and likeness rights before the singer died in 2023. They also allege that he benefited from excessive commissions, loans and gifts, actions they believe have diminished the estate intended to be equally divided among Tony’s four children.

Antonia and Johanna assert they have received only $245,000 each, significantly less than their expected share.

This lawsuit followed suit in June 2023 when the sisters sought an estate accounting. In response, Danny’s legal team has denied any wrongdoing, noting that Tony had full trust in his son and crediting him with revitalizing his career and managing his finances.

A court will determine the future administration of Tony’s estate and the validity of the claims against Danny.
