Just because Alexander Ludwig, 20, who shot to fame with the wildly popular adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley, Woody Harrelson, and Lenny Kravitz, can't return to his role as the diabolical Cato for reasons that are obvioius to anyone who read / watched, that doesn't mean there aren't big things in store for the young actor.

Ludwig has just signed on to appear as a Navy SEAL in Lone Survivor alongside Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Eric Bana and Ben Foster, reports GameZone.com. The film will tell the true story of SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who was the only one of his team to walk away from the deadly "Operation Red Wing," a mission to capture and kill a Taliban leader in Afghanistan.

Lone Survivor will be directed by Peter Berg, who is most recognizable for his role as Dr. Billy Kronk in Chicago Hope and has recently directed feature films Battleship and Hancock, as well as several episodes of NBC's Friday Night Lights, on which he also served as one of the head writers.

Lone Survivor is in pre-production. You can also see Ludwig in next summer's comedy sequel, Grown Ups 2, starring Adam Sandler, Salma Hayek, Taylor Lautner, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Maria Bello, Andy Samberg, Chris Rock, David Spade and Maya Rudolph.
