Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel have decided to seperate after 11 years of marriage and 18 years of being a couple.

Diggs and Menzel, who met as part of the original Broadway cast of Rent in 1995, have decided to take a break from their marriage. They were married on Jan. 11, 2003 and have one child together – Walker Nathaniel Diggs, 4.

"Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time," reps for the couple said in a statement. "Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time."

Previously, Menzel has opened up about the difficulties of being in a couple where both parties are pulled around the globe for work. "We work at it," Menzel told People. "I'm not going to glamorize it or glorify it—we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time and we try to find new ways to communicate."

Taye Diggs Cheating Rumors

Rumors have swirled throughout the marriage that Diggs is a less than faithful husband. This past summer, tabloids alleged that the Private Practice actor was making out with a brunette at a club. Amidst separation rumors last month, it was suggested that Diggs was bragging to strippers about becoming single

"Taye isn't even waiting for the separation to be official," a source told Star. "He's ready to party and let loose… as far as he's concerned, the marriage is over."

Both Menzel and Diggs have been busy as of late, with both actors having movies hit theaters last month. Menzel voices Elsa in animated feature Frozen, while Diggs reprised his role of Harper in The Best Man Holiday.
