Russell Brand Arrested For Battery

Russell Brand is trying to prove that chivalry’s not dead. Unfortunately, his attempt to keep a photographer from taking an upskirt shot of fiancee Katy Perry resulted in a citizen’s arrest and a charge of battery.

Funny man Brand, 35, has been arrested 11 times in his life, but never before for physical violence. Police responded to the report of suspected battery after Brand and the photographer engaged in an altercation in the Los Angeles Airport. The comedian was released on $20,000 bail and quipped, "Thanks for your sweet messages of support. After the tips I picked up in chokey I’m an infinitely more proficient criminal," via Twitter.

Pop star Perry, 25, is fully on her fiance’s side. "If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me," she tweeted. The two plan to marry in India later this year. –AMY LEE
