The first trailer for the next Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is out, and the internet is buzzing. Critics have noted that it looks extremely faithful to the original trilogy’s look, and aesthetically gorgeous, but it’s unclear what exactly the storyline will be. Either way as soon as the odd alarm begins to sound, the anticipation for the movie is undeniable.

The opening does make something very clear. The main character is Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) with a criminal background, although based on her announced description as a rebel soldier, the infractions of “forgery of Imperial documents, possession of stolen property, aggravated assault, resisting arrest” seem minor. Erso is tasked with proving herself in some way, and specifically she is on a mission to find out information about an “imminent” weapon test. As the audience, we know the giant laser that will be installed on the Death Star, but in the trailer we do get to see it being installed.

Genevieve O’Reilly is reprising her role as Mon Mothma as she played the young Mon Mothma in Revenge of the SithForest Whitaker allegedly plays “Eel Leader,” a bounty hunter. Diego Luna and Alistar Petrie are seen on screen as fellow rebels, but their characters are still unnamed. Donnie Yen‘s character, who is seen using martial arts to fight a storm trooper, also remains unnamed. Many other familiar-faced unnamed characters graced the trailer’s screen, and it’s unclear how they will (and if they will) all come together as a team.

Whitaker ends his voiceover in the film with Erso turning to the camera as he asks, “What will you become?”

The film has not been rated yet. It will be released on Dec. 16.
