Kelly Rizzo has shared the loving conversation that ended up being the last she would have with her husband, comedian and actor Bob Saget. Saget died on Jan 9 in Orlando, Florida while on a stand-up tour.

Saget and Rizzo first met online in 2015, and tied the knot in 2018.

Rizzo shared the story in an emotional interview with Hota Kotb on Today in one of her first public appearances since Saget’s death. She shared that she spoke with Saget on the phone as he was returning to his hotel room, in high spirits after a successful show. “I think I said, ‘I love you dearly,’ and he said, ‘I love you endlessly,’ and he said, ‘I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.’ It was just all love,” said Rizzo,

She also added that Saget “valued every single second that we had together. That’s why this is so heartbreaking. But, at the same time, I know that every second we had together was just maximalized to the fullest. There was nothing left unsaid and nothing left on the table.”

Rizzo also spoke about Saget’s funeral, which occurred on Jan 14 and had around 300 attendees. She said the ceremony, “as painful as it was, [it was] beautiful to be surrounded by so many people who loved him and who loved each other. I can’t even verbalize the level of support, I’m so grateful for it.”

She has stated that she’ll be continuing Saget’s legacy of working with the Sclerodoma Research Foundation, which he began raising money for after his sister Gay died from the rare autoimmune disease.

When news of Saget’s death broke, donations poured in for the Research Foundation, and the foundation itself announced a $1.5 million grant that will match every donation made in Saget’s honor.
