Lil Nas X Hospitalized For Facial Paralysis
Lil Nas X has been hospitalized after experiencing facial paralysis.
On Monday night, the singer posted a video to Instagram in which he sat in a hospital bed and tried, unsuccessfully, to smile. He told the camera, “This is me doing a full smile right now, by the way…I’m just like, what the f—? I can’t even laugh right bro, what the f—? Oh my god, bro. So…yeah.”
He captioned the video, “Soooo, lost control of the right side of my face,” with a crying emoji.
However, the singer, 26, assured his followers via Instagram story, “Guys I am OK!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!”
He added, alongside a selfie, “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
Another post to Instagram saw the singer in front of the mirror. “It’s already getting better,” he said. “We normal over here, we get crazy over here.”
Nas has not yet revealed the direct affliction that he is experiencing, but many internet users have speculated it to be Bell’s Palsy, a facial nerve issue that causes weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. Others have compared the singer’s condition to a similar one posted by Justin Bieber in 2022 when he experienced facial paralysis due to a Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis.
Nas’s second full-length album, DreamBoy, is slated to be released sometime in 2025. In preparation, he dropped five songs in five days last month, starting with “DREAMBOY” on March 10, followed by “Big Dummy!,” “Swish,” “Right There!” and “Hotbox.” On March 22, he added “Lean on My Body” to the bunch.
The singer recently released a feature documentary, Long Live Montero, which delved into his life and career background. The documentary highlighted Lil Nas X’s contributions to the LGBTQ community, which he has been a proud member of since he came out in 2019.
