Blogger Kelly Rizzo, the widow of beloved actor Bob Saget, has addressed the criticism she faced for her new relationship after Saget’s death.

After a slew of ugly comments that condemned Rizzo’s new romance, Rizzo, who was married to Saget from 2018 until he died in 2022, took to TikTok to defend herself against those who claimed she moved on too quickly.

In a poignant video shared to TikTok, Rizzo responded to critics, “Unless you are a widow or a widower, you truly have absolutely no place and no right to comment on this because you do not know what it’s like… You just don’t understand the incredibly complex and difficult and dynamic thoughts and feelings that come up during this entire process… you feel guilty and ashamed even thinking about starting to date again, but yet you also feel lonely, and so you want to do it.”

Rizzo shared that she waited 18 months after Saget’s death before she entered a new relationship and revealed that it was with the support and encouragement of Saget’s daughters and friends that she felt ready to explore the possibility of love again. Rizzo emphasized that everyone’s experience of grief is different, and timing varies from person to person.

Rizzo also highlighted the importance of a partner who understands the regular presence of Saget in her life. She found solace in her current boyfriend, who actively included Saget in their conversations and kept his memory alive. Rizzo expressed gratitude that she found someone who truly comprehends and supports her connection to her late husband.

Saget, known for his roles in Full House and America’s Funniest Home Videos, died on January 9, 2022. Authorities determined that his cause of death was head trauma, which resulted from an accidental impact on the back of his head.

Rizzo has been dating another comedian, Breckin Meyer.

In an Instagram post that commemorated the two-year anniversary of Saget’s death, Rizzo expressed her gratitude for the time they shared together and the love they experienced. She acknowledged the mixture of emotions that continue to accompany her memories of Saget, which included smiles, laughter and tears.
