Katherine Heigl‘s January 21 performance on Grey’s Anatomy will be her last. The actress, who has been on maternity leave for the last three months, has been missing in action after failing to return to the Grey’s set on March 1. Producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed that Heigl is being released from her contract with final agreements pending, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Heigl and ABC have been in talks for months, ultimately deciding that parting ways would be the best way to solve the tension that has frequently bubbled into public. In the past few years, Heigl has refused to put her name in for Emmy consideration – citing her own slight air-time and has complained about the long work hours. –KADEEN GRIFFITHS
