Controversial rapper Kanye West has shared that he regrets having his children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian in a new interview.

West and Kardashian were married in May 2014 and share four kids – North, Saint, Psalm and Chicago. Their divorce was finalized in November 2022.

West’s new interview comes a little over a week after he posted a series of tweets slamming Kardashian for controlling his children, specifically in relation to Kardashian’s planned musical collaboration between North and Playboi Carti.

West wrote on X, “So a white woman has control over the name and likeness of my Black children and then speaks to Carti about putting my daughter on a song with him,” and declared, “these [dumb a–] celebrities be trying to play with me in my face.”

West and Kardashian have long been involved in a highly publicized battle over their children. Most recently, West used their daughter North’s vocals on his new track, which also features Sean Combs, who is currently in jail, against Kardashian’s will. Kardashian, who trademarked North’s name previously, then prevented North’s voice from being used, to which West responded with the order that Kardashian “amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout.” He added for emphasis, “You’re going to have to kill me.”

Kardashian also recently halted one of North’s visits with West upon learning that misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate was set to be present, further causing friction between her and West.

In an hour-long interview with DJ Akademiks, uploaded to YouTube, West ranted about his battles with Kardashian over their children. DJ Akademiks pointed out, “When you speak about Kim, people might be like, ‘Well, you picked her. You put yourself in that,’” and West responded, “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her, but it wasn’t God’s plan.”

He continued, “I don’t get the name and likeness of ownership, or at least 50-50 with my kids… so how’s it joint custody?”

“My kids are celebrities, and I don’t have the say, so… so this white woman and this white family have the control of these highly influential black kids that are half the children of Ye.”

West’s extensive and inflammatory comments were complemented by his outfit choice, which was clearly intended to cause a stir. Initially dressed in a Sean John T-shirt, West traded the clothes part-way through the interview for a black KKK-inspired leather hood and cape outfit.
