Joe Perry, Aerosmith Guitarist, Hospitalized After Collapsing Onstage
Joe Perry, the lead guitarist for rock band Aerosmith, was hospitalized in New York City Sunday night after collapsing onstage.
Joe Perry Hospitalized
Perry, 65, was playing a show in Brooklyn with rock supergroup The Hollywood Vampires when he fell ill. During one of the songs of the set, Perry began to feel unwell and leaned against the drum stage for support while attempting to finish the track. However, before the end of the song, Perry staggered towards the back of the stage, where he collapsed.
Backstage at the Ford Amphitheater on the Coney Island Boardwalk, New York police and fire fighters tended to Perry, who was soon rushed to a nearby hospital. As of Monday, Perry remained in the hospital and was listed in “stable condition.”
“Joe Perry is stable and resting. His brother Vampires and fans wish him a speedy recovery,” a rep for The Hollywood Vampires said.
Alice Cooper, who is in The Hollywood Vampires alongside Perry and actor Johnny Depp, tweeted about the incident, writing, “Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care.”
