Final Trailer For ‘The Suicide Squad’ Released

The third and final trailer for the upcoming superhero film The Suicide Squad has been released. The Suicide Squad is directed by James Gunn and serves as a stand-alone sequel and soft reboot of the original Suicide Squad movie from 2016 directed by David Ayer. The film will largely include a new cast of characters with the only returning cast members being Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag. The cast will be led by Idris Elba, who portrays the villain and main character of the film Robert DuBois/Bloodsport.

The trailer opens with Amanda Waller (Davis) explaining what Bloodsport’s (Elba) file explains and how he was responsible for putting Superman in the intensive care unit after shooting him with a kryptonite bullet. When Bloodsport refuses to join Waller’s Suicide Squad, the unmoved government figure brings the criminal’s daughter Tyla (Storm Reid). Tyla reveals to her father that her court date is coming up and that Waller said he could help her out. An enraged Bloodsport holds a knife up to Waller’s throat. Waller orders her guards to lower their guns on Bloodsport and reveals that she wouldn’t take such extreme measures if this mission wasn’t so important. She then asks one more time if he’s in or out. Bloodsport silently accepts and Waller decides to take him to his new team. The song “Rain” starts to play as Waller shows Bloodsport the Suicide Squad. As the members enter the helicopter, Harley (Robbie) enters the vehicle and apologizes for being late, revealing that she was in the bathroom, much to the annoyance of Flag (Kinnaman) who sarcastically thanks her for the information.

The helicopter soon takes off as Blackguard (Pete Davidson) is seen sitting next to Weasel (Sean Gunn). Blackguard asks if Weasel is a dog. Boomerang (Courtney) sarcastically asks what kind of dog he thinks it is. TDK (Nathan Fillion) suggests that it’s an Afghan hound, while Harley states that it might be a werewolf. Blackguard soon freaks out at Harley’s suggestion and frantically attempts to move from his seat. Flag sits him down and states that Weasel is harmless but soon corrects himself when he mentioned that the creature killed 27 children. The music gets faster as Waller explains to the team that their mission is to destroy an experiment called “Project Starfish.” Peacemaker (John Cena) asks if the project has any connection to a butt as the word is also a slang for one. Waller angrily says no to the vigilante, who writes down her answer on a note pad. The Thinker (Peter Capaldi) states that this is suicide to which Flag responds that it is kind of their thing. The squad fights several thugs before the villain Starro is seen unleashing his clones onto the city. After the title card is shown, Flag asks what they see on the radio. King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) answers by stating “bird” as he looks at a pigeon after which an annoyed Flag orders him to stay off the radio.

The Suicide Squad will be released simultaneously in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service on August 6.
