Gone are the days when actor Eddie Cibrian, 38, was best known as the rugged beau of LeeAnn Rimes, for whom she left her previous husband, Dean Sheremet. Now Cibrian, who has previously had spots on Ugly Betty and Sunset Beach, is helming the new NBC series, The Playboy Club as the mysterious Nick Dalton, a character as duplicitous as he is dashing.

"He is a chameleon. He's very social, very liked by a lot of people On the facade, he seems to have it all," Cibrian told USA Today about his new smouldering character, who appears opposite Zombieland's Amber Heard, a recently-hired Playboy bunny. But there's a Don-Draper-esque twist to Nick Dalton. "He's done some things in the past that he's not very proud of, and he's always been trying to break free from that. Now, he has an opportunity to actually really start doing good," Cibrian added.

Rimes, who met Cibrian in 2009 when the two filmed the Lifetime movie, Northern Lights, together, is equally proud of her husband's new professional endeavor. "It's really about these women who were liberating themselves, and the mob in Chicago at that time, more than it's about the rise of the actual Playboy brand," she told Zap2it. "It's not all about sex. It's definitely a lot deeper than that when you go into the whole story line."

Rimes just wrapped filming on a TV movie, Reel Love, in which she plays opposite Burt Reynolds. It will premiere on November 13 on CMT. In the meantime, you can catch Cibrian in The Playboy Club Monday nights on NBC.
