Christopher Meloni & Mariska Hargitay Tease ‘Law and Order’ Spinoff In New Photo
Mariska Hargitay, who portrays Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU, posted photos on Instagram from behind the scenes of the Law and Order spinoff series, Law and Order: Organized Crime.
The first photo shows Hargitay posing next to Christopher Meloni, who played Eliot Stabler in the original show and is reviving his old role for the new spinoff. The pair are standing on set in a cemetery. The second and third photos show the pair’s director chairs with their character’s names on them. The post is captioned “It’s all happening… #OC #PFL.”

Meloni left Law and Order: SVU in 2011 after contract talks broke down. His character retired from the police force at the end of season 12. The new spinoff series marks the first time Meloni has played Eliot Stabler in almost a decade.
The 13-episode spinoff was announced in March. Stabler will return to the NYPD to battle organized crime after suffering a “devastating personal loss” of his own, NBC announced in June. It was confirmed that Hargitay will make an appearance on the new show.
His journey on the new show will allow him to “find absolution and rebuild his life, while leading a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one,” according to NBC.
Law and Order: Organized Crime will premier in Spring, 2021.
