After a violent bender in New York City this past week, Charlie Sheen has filed for divorce from wife Brooke Mueller, citing irreconcilable differences.

The sitcom star, 45, has been married to Mueller since 2008, though the two have lived apart since late 2009, after an incident of domestic violence. Sheen plead guilty to violent assault in August, for having pulled a knife on Mueller during an alcohol-fueled fight in Aspen, Colorado. He was sentenced to 30 days of probation, 30 days of rehab, and anger management counseling. The couple have two children, 19-month-old twin boys, together.

This is Sheen's third divorce. He was previously married to actress Denise Richards for four years from 2002 to 2006. Richards and Sheen have two daughters together, over whom they engaged in an acrimonious custody battle. Sheen was also married to Donna Peele in 1995. He has another daughter with ex-girlfriend Paula Profit.

The actor is currently one of the highest paid on television for his role on CBS's Two And A Half Men, from which he voluntarily took a leave to enter rehab in February. –AMY LEE
