Kim Kardashian recently made a $15,000 offer to acquire a Bible once owned by O.J. Simpson, which her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., had inscribed and gifted to Simpson in 1994. However, the executor of Simpson’s estate, Malcolm LaVergne, declined the offer, citing the existing auction arrangements.

The Bible holds significant sentimental value, featuring a handwritten note from Robert Sr. to Simpson, dated June 18, 1994—the day after Simpson’s arrest for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. In the note, Robert Sr. wrote: “O.J., this book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.”

LaVergne explained that accepting Kim’s $15,000 offer wasn’t feasible due to legal and financial considerations. He stated, “Why would I spend $15,000 of estate money—why would I spend $15,000 in attorney’s fees—to sell it to Kim for $15,000 ? That’s a zero-sum game.”

Currently, the Bible is set to be auctioned online, with the highest bid at $9,800. LaVergne suggested that Kim could participate in the auction, potentially acquiring the Bible for less than her initial offer.

Robert Kardashian Sr., a close friend of Simpson, served as one of his defense attorneys during the infamous 1995 murder trial. He died in 2003. Simpson was acquitted in the criminal trial but was found liable in a 1997 civil trial. He later served time for armed robbery and kidnapping and died in April 2024 from prostate cancer.

Kim has expressed a connection to her father’s legacy, pursuing a career in law and advocating for criminal justice reform. In her 2020 documentary, Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project, she reflected on how her legal work helps her feel connected to her father. “There are times when I could be frustrated and studying really late and have to get up and wonder how he did it, having four kids and must’ve been going through some of the same things that I have gone through,” she said.
