Billionaire David Geffen, 82, & Husband David Armstrong, 32, Divorcing After 2 Years Of Marriage – With No Prenup
Retired billionaire music mogul David Geffen has officially filed for divorce from husband David Armstrong, whom he has been married to for two years.
Armstrong, 32, and Geffen, 82, were married in March 2023, in a private ceremony in Beverly Hills. A go-go dancer, Armstrong goes by the stage name Donovan Michaels.
In documents filed in Los Angeles on May 16, Geffen attributed his and Armstrong’s divorce to “irreconcilable differences.” The filing states their official date of separation as February 22.

Geffen is being represented by the well-known celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser, nicknamed the “divorce lawyer to the stars.” Wasser has previously represented A-listers such as Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Kevin Costner, Angelina Jolie, and many more in relationship cases.
Geffen and Armstrong did not have a prenuptial agreement, and the main source of Geffen’s wealth income was stocks and other equities, which California law considers separate property. Armstrong will still likely get a cash settlement. California law requires Geffen to pay Armstrong one year of spousal support – half the length of the marriage – as well as Armstrong’s attorney’s fees.
Geffen and Armstrong were fairly private about their romance, occasionally sharing photos together on Instagram but rarely providing any details about their relationship. While they never detailed the history of their relationship to the public, The New York Post reported that the two met when Armstrong, who was also previously a model and fitness instructor, trained Geffen at some point in 2020.
A friend of Armstrong’s revealed that the dancer has always been reclusive and wary of sharing details about his personal life. “It took a while to really get to know him because he was really private about his past…[he was] always searching for something to help him understand this past and what he experience…I think he rebelled a lot when he was younger.”
Geffen came out as gay in 1992 after previously advertising a romantic link with Cher in the 1970s.
