‘The Sopranos’ Star Drea De Matteo Explains Her Decision To Join OnlyFans, Says Kids Help With Photos
Actress Drea de Matteo, best known for her role as Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, announced in August that she had joined OnlyFans, the internet subscription service used primarily by sex workers, in order to save her family.
After de Matteo refused to get the Covid-19 vaccine, her agent dropped her and multiple acting roles fell through. Her comments left the family in a precarious financial situation and her inability to secure roles caused the family to almost lose the house.
De Matteo says that her OnlyFans account will cost $15 a month.
De Matteo explained that the account isn’t about fame – it’s how she supports her family. When she was met with ugly comments about her career decision, she told Fox News she responds, “Damn straight, I hope you’re never in the f—— position I’m in. I take care of an entire family and a lot of people depend on me.”
Amid the current actors’ strike, the actress added that she never wants to be at the mercy of any mandates or strikes.
“My own industry thinks I’m, you know, a savage,” she said. “Everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it.”
Matteo acted as Christopher Moltisanti’s (played by Michael Imperioli) girlfriend for six seasons of The Sopranos, a performance which earned her an Emmy in 2004. Outside of this work, she has appeared in films such as Safe Room and New York, I Love You, as well as roles in television series such as A Million Little Things and Sons of Anarchy.
