Fans Alarmed Over Rachael Ray’s ‘Disheveled’ Appearance & ‘Slurred Speech’ In Social Media Post

Celebrity chef Rachael Ray has sparked concern about her health after she posted a video in which her speech was slightly slurred and she appeared more disheveled than fans have seen her in the past.

On Mother’s Day, Ray posted a video of herself cooking on Instagram, in which she looked back on the trying years she spent in New York, and what she learned from the hardships she faced.

She recalled living on a budget of $40 for an entire week’s worth of groceries and how the experience taught her to be resourceful in her food choices and create appealing meals from minimal ingredients.

She noted that the restrictions she faced played major roles in forging her cooking philosophies. “It has changed the course of my life,” she said. “It has made my life what it is. And that’s what I try to share in these shows as often as I can.”

In the caption, Ray wrote, “My mom taught me a lot more than how to cook. She showed me how to make something outta nothing—and how to do it with love. 💛🍲 Whether it was dinner on the table 🍽️ or how to pick yourself up when things got tough 💪💫… she just had it. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, mother figures, and caretakers out there—this one’s for you. 💐👩‍🍳”

She finished with a question for her followers: “What’s one thing your mom passed down to you that stuck? A dish, a lesson, a way of living? Please share it with me in the comments below ❤️”

Although Ray’s video only shared uplifting and poignant observations about her career journey, many fans were distracted by her physical appearance, writing that she had changed many of her mannerisms and was “unrecognizable.”

A video of Ray last year elicited the same concerns when she slurred some of her words as she reflected on an experience preparing one of Tony Bennett’s favorite meals. This led to some fans commenting on suspicions that she had suffered a stroke.

While many comments were brutal, dissecting Ray’s supposed physical deterioration, others were quick to step in and defend her, pointing out the cruel nature of attacking someone’s appearance. One person wrote, “Please be kind, we never know what types of health or personal struggles people have. 🙏❤️🙏.”

In 2020, Ray’s home was severely damaged in a fire.
