Alicia Allain Schneider, filmmaker and wife of Dukes Of Hazzard star John Schneider, passed away in their Louisiana home on Feb. 21. She was 53.

“My beautiful Smile is pain free, living in her new body alongside Jesus,” John wrote in an Instagram post, calling his wife his “Smile.” “Lastly … hug those you love tight and let them know how you feel. We always did.”

The post consisted of two photos: the first of a smiling Alicia doing a thumbs up gesture, and the second of John holding her hand, presumably on her deathbed.

He has asked for privacy during this period of grief, but welcomed any fan photos of him and his wife together. The reason for Alicia’s death remains unknown.

Earlier on Feb. 26, John also wrote on Facebook: “Yesterday, a dear friend of mine asked the following question: if Alicia was here right now, what advice would she give you to get through this? I thought for about a minute and came up with these three words which are now stuck to hundreds of places that I frequent in my life.”

They were “Make me proud,” and in that same Facebook post, John included a photo of a post-it note with the three words written on it and stuck onto a mirror. He can be seen in the reflection of the mirror.

Alicia previously worked as a manager and producer for the 62-year-old actor and singer and contributed to several of his movies, including Inadmissible, Anderson Bench and To Die For.

She and John tied the knot in 2019.
