Singer Jessie J Diagnosed With Breast Cancer After Release Of Single ‘No Secrets’: ‘You Can’t Make This Up!’
Singer Jessie J revealed she was diagnosed with “early breast cancer” in a statement she made via Instagram. She told fans that she is going to “disappear for a bit” after her upcoming concert to undergo surgery related to the diagnosis.
The singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, made a point in emphasizing that she has been diagnosed with “early breast cancer,” and stated, “I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word early.”
Jessie J learned of her diagnosis two months ago, just before her single “No Secrets” was released in late April. During her statement, she emphasized how “sharing in the past has helped [her] with other people, giving [her] their love and support and also their own stories.”
The singer aims to utilize her platform to raise awareness and foster a community surrounding cancer and those affected by it.
Last October, robbers stole $20,000 in jewelry from her L.A. home.
After she performs at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15, she will undergo the operation. The irony of the diagnosis, which followed the recent release of her song, “No Secrets,” just before a song called “Living My Best Life,” was also mentioned humorously, with Jessie J saying, “I mean, you can’t make it up.”
Using her platform, the singer called attention to all those affected by cancer and stated, “It breaks my heart that people are going through so much, similar and worse… That’s the bit that kills me.” In a positive light, she said, “The timing of it [the diagnosis] has been mad but also beautiful and has given me this incredible perspective on time. But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it; I need a hug.”
Despite the setback, the European and UK No Secrets Tour 2025 is still scheduled to begin in late summer, with the first show in Amsterdam.
