On Tuesday, ABC decided to cancel Roseanne Barr’s reboot of her titular show, following her (since-deleted) racist tweet aimed at Valerie Jarrett, the senior adviser to President Barack Obama; celebrities are weighing in on the situation.

ABC decided to remove Barr’s show from their network due to the fact that her beliefs were “inconsistent with [their] values.” Since then, many celebrities have applauded the company for their decision.

Rob Reiner tweeted that the network did the right thing, but is also expecting President Donald Trump will “continue to stoke evil.”

 

Cher expressed her concern about the cast and crew that will be left jobless due to Barr’s racism.

Director Ava DuVernay pointed out that the president of ABC, Channing Dungey, is black and is “like a Queen in full judgement of your garbage and taking it out.”

Ben Platt added a touch of sarcasm, believing that the reboot should not have happened in the first place.

 

Kumail Nanjiani believes that it the show’s cancellation is a good thing, but fears the backlash that will follow.
