‘Slender Man’ Victim Payton Leutner Speaks Out For First Time 5 Years After The Attack
Payton Leutner, a 17-year-old Wisconsin girl, made the news five years ago when she was stabbed to near-death by her former best friends, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier.
The 12-year-olds were having a sleepover when Leutner’s friends got her out of the house and lured her into a wooded park in Milwaukee. Leutner believed they went to the woods to play hide-and-seek, but her friends had a different plan in mind. Geyser and Weier had been plotted to kill Leutner that night all in an effort to please fictional book character “Slender Man.” “Slender Man” is a faceless, supernatural figure with a thin, tall stature, which was created online.
Weier and Geyser were on a mission to kill Leutner and ended up stabbing their innocent classmate a total of 19 times (nearly stabbing her heart), believing that would promote them to being servants of “Slender Man.”
Luckily, Leutner made it out alive by crawling to a nearby bike path and getting help from a passerby.
Today, Leutner lives with scars from that tragic night and her ex-best friends serve out the rest of their 65-year time in mental institutional confinement.
In a clip from upcoming 20/20 interview with the survivor, Leutner said she has found acceptance in her story and scars. “It’s just a part of me. I don’t think much of them. They will probably go away and fade eventually,” she said.
