Carole Baskin Says It Will Be A ‘Huge Relief’ If Husband Don Lewis Found
In response to her in-laws using her Dancing with the Stars appearance to get catty, Carole Baskin has said she hopes her missing husband will be found.
Baskin was originally a prime suspect in her husband Don Lewis’s disappearance in 1997, but by the time he was legally declared dead in 2002, nobody had been charged or convicted with a crime related to the case. It remains open to this day, and despite theories popularized by her rival Joe Exotic surrounding the story, there is little to no evidence to prove them.
Baskin’s feud with her in-laws has been mostly fueled by her receiving of Lewis’s inheritance, with was worth over $5 million in assets.
“I believe their actions are just a publicity stunt, but if it helps us find Don, then that will be a huge relief,” she stated. In a blog post she made in response to the Netflix mini-series Tiger King, she added “When [Don] disappeared, I did everything I could to assist the police. I encouraged them to check out the rumors from Costa Rica, and separately I hired a private investigator.”
